Terry Gilteo

Terry Gilteo is a member of the Revolutionary Army. He is based in Baltigo. Terry Gilteo wears a gray cloak and has what appears to be a kangaroo hat with modern headphones. He has brown hair and a short beard and mustache, though his eyes are shadowed. He is seen smoking as well.

Like the other revolutionaries, Terry Gilteo is loyal to Dragon. He seems to be a generous person as he escorted Robin to meet Dragon by her own choosing. Terry Gilteo was first seen in Baltigo talking to Dragon about the rising fame and bounties of the Straw Hat Pirates. As he talked about the Straw Hats, he was oblivious to the fact that he was talking about his leader's own son and was about to tell him of Luffy's relation to Garp (Dragon's father) however, Dragon walked out of the room. He is seen later during Robin's cover story, alongside Bunny Joe, freeing the slaves of Tequila Wolf. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Bunny Joe

Bunny Joe is a member of the Revolutionary Army and the leader of the group that rescued people of Tequila Wolf from slavery along with Nico Robin. Bunny Joe is a tall man with light brown curly hair, reaching down to the tip of his shoulders. He wears a tan cloak and a bowler hat with a teal feather on it. Under his cloak he wears a black shirt, with white buttons.

He has light red pants, with a brown belt holding it up. He also carries a flintlock in his pants. Like the other revolutionaries, he is loyal to Dragon. He seems to be a generous person as he escorted Robin to meet Dragon by her own choosing and did anything to accommodate Robin while on the way to Baltigo. During the liberation of Tequila Wolf, Joe is seen using a flintlock. He led the revolutionary forces that liberated Tequila Wolf. Later, he explained to Nico Robin about how the Revolutionaries had been looking for her and assured her that they are on her side. He then asked Robin to meet the revolutionary leader, Dragon. Robin declined but changed her mind after receiving Luffy's secret message. While on the way to Baltigo, Bunny Joe ordered his men to bring some food, blankets, and a couch out onto the deck of their ship in order to accommodate Robin.

Koala

Koala is a former slave who was set free by Fisher Tiger's rampage on Mariejois. She sailed along with the Sun Pirates to reach her home town. At some point later, she became the Fishman Karate assistant instructor of the Revolutionary Army, where she now works with Sabo, making an appearance in the Dressrosa Arc. Aladdin described Koala as having the lifestyle of a slave ingrained in her blood. Even after being set free for three years, she was very apologetic and vowed to never cry or stop working. The pirate explained that if a slave ever cried or stopped cleaning, then they would be killed. Koala seemed to consider the Sun Pirates her masters, as she asked them if she would be killed if she stopped cleaning.

The pirate also said that slaves panicked constantly, even when they were by themselves, and could never trust anyone. It is unknown if Koala also became paranoid in that regard. But when Fisher Tiger convinced her that they were not like the Celestial Dragons by throwing a gun into the water, she finally cried for the first time in years. She then began to regard the Sun Pirates as her family rather than her masters, though this did not stop her habit of cleaning even when she wasn't asked. By the time they reached her home town she genuinely liked the fishmen and mermen of the Sun Pirates, creating especially strong bonds with Hatchan and the future members of the Macro Pirates. She went as far as to actually hold Fisher Tiger's hands despite him trying to shake her off. At the age of 23 Koala has become much more mature, having shown compassion to Sabo for not being there to save Ace and that he should not let his guilt get to him. She also has become rather playful and cheery, having gleefully hugged Robin again after meeting her and teased Sabo about him crying upon meeting Luffy again. She has also been shown to have a temper, as she got angry with Sabo for fighting Fujitora instead of staying at his post and comically pinched his cheeks for his disregard for his duties as a Revolutionary. She's been shown to have certain skills like being able to take down larger enemies and great agility and can make a big jump from the stands to all the way down to an underground port while bringing Sabo clothes to wear. Their position indicates that in terms of combat is above simple revolutionary soldiers, so as to have a decent level within fishmen standards despite being human. She is skilled enough at Fishman Karate to be able to teach it and was able to defeat an opponent much larger than her. Not being a fishwoman and still being able to learn the art makes her more impressive. In the anime, she is shown to be proficient enough to defeat a group of five armed men with only a single strike each.

Hack

Hundredth Dan Hack is a Japanese soldierfish fishman and member of the Revolutionary Army. He went to Dressrosa to investigate the arms trafficking there and competed at the Corrida Colosseum for the Mera Mera no Mi. Hack is a calm and proud person, and follows a dream where a path of friendship may be formed by fighting. For that reason, he will continue fighting. He finds fighting battles to be honorable and thus, dislikes those who show a lack of respect toward a fight such as Bartolomeo.

He is very honorable and dislikes attacking an opponent from the back, but he will do it if said opponent is not worthy of his respect, as he did to Bartolomeo, who was urinating on the side of the fighting ring and was, in Hack's opinion, not taking the battle seriously. As a fishman, he is at least ten times stronger than an average human, and twice that in the water. However, as he is taking part in the Corrida Colosseum fights, a location in the New World, as well as from the demonstration of a high-level Fishman Karate attack, it is implied that Hack's much stronger than that. He was able to stop an assault from a large gladiator by grabbing his opponent's spiked club, with the man commenting that he was unable to move his weapon in Hack's grip. Hack is an instructor in Fishman Karate, in comparison to Koala's status as assistant instructor. He uses Fishman Karate to attack his opponents with great strength. Hack is a Fishman Jujutsu martial artist, although he has not been seen using any techniques.

Bartholomew

Bartholomew Kuma is a Shichibukai, formerly a Revolutionary with a bounty of Beli296,000,000. He was once feared as an extremely vicious pirate, earning himself the title, "Tyrant". He is a type of cyborg called "Pacifista" developed by Dr. Vegapunk. Once Vegapunk finished his modifications on Kuma, the Shichibukai was converted into the first complete Pacifista cyborg, with the serial PX-0, and figuratively died in the process. Prior to his final Pacifista modifications, Kuma was a commander in the Revolutionary Army; as a result, he had control over the lower ranking members of the Revolutionary Army. However, he lost this power when he became a complete slave of the World Government. Kuma was shown to be brilliant at deception, managing to successfully trick the World Government about his true affiliation towards the Revolutionary Army for several years, as well as being elected to the position of one of the Shichibukai (though it does appear that they did eventually become suspicious enough of Kuma to compromise his identity as a double-agent and force him to undergo a permanent lobotomy). Bartholomew Kuma is currently one of the Shichibukai, a group which is one of The Three Great Powers. Kuma is easily one of the most powerful characters that have appeared in the series. Kuma is one of the few people to have completely defeated the entire Straw Hat Pirates, and is also the only character introduced so far that has defeated the crew single-handedly, twice.

However, the crew was extremely weak both times and they were in no shape to fight another battle, much less a Shichibukai (in the first encounter, the crew had just finished battling another Shichibukai, Gekko Moriah, as well as an island full of zombies, and Oars; in the second encounter, they had just battled against a Pacifista while fending off a second, Kizaru and Sentomaru). He did not want the crew dead, however, since he allowed them to escape, indicating he might have held back. He is extremely fast, enough to seem as though he has disappeared in the eyes of the Straw Hats, as well everyone on Thriller Bark. This is, however, unclear if it has something to do with the modifications from Dr. Vegapunk, or if it is part of his Devil Fruit powers, or simply being his raw speed. He has such a fierce reputation that even other powerful and famous pirates are unnerved by him as seen with the captain of the Kid Pirates, Eustass Kid, actually seemed heavily disturbed when he witnessed the arrival of a Pacifista cyborg (mistaking it for the real Kuma) on the Sabaody Archipelago, close to where his crew were, despite the fact that his bounty was higher than Kuma's former bounty, demonstrating how his strength is even greater than that implied by his frozen bounty in the eyes of others. Kuma ate the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, making him a "Paw Man". A Paramecia-class Devil Fruit gives him paw pads which give him the power to "push" anything, including the air around him, allowing him to not only defend himself from attacks but also to push objects at great speed. The fruit's powers also allow him to move at the same speed as the objects he pushes, possibly by using it to push himself, appearing instantaneously at a desired location regardless of distance, all the while he moves with no more than a slow walk. He can also extract pain from one and transfer it to or make it simply begone. Kuma has made numerous people "vanish" by slapping them with one of his hands. It is later revealed that he pushes them away, sending them flying to another destination, which he can choose, even if the destination requires several days to reach. Kuma has also shown the ability to "push" or deflect things that lack palpability such as people's pain and exhaustion. This is shown when Kuma took all of the pain that Luffy had suffered on Thriller Bark and left him feeling completely healthy, meaning that his abilities can be used to heal people and cure them. However, in this case, Kuma removed Luffy's pain because Zoro had agreed to accept it in his place. It is not clear what would happen if the pain, which took the form of a giant bubble, had not been transferred to Zoro. It would seem that Kuma's ability does not give him the power to heal damage as much as simply extract it and let it go somewhere else. Kuma fights in a style reminiscent of sumo-wrestling. He crouches low in a wide stance, even using the signature stomp, and attacks with open-palm strikes, using his special paws to launch powerful air bullets. Much in keeping with the sumo inspiration, Kuma spends almost all of his time with his feet planted, refusing to give his ground. He has also demonstrated the ability to block all physical attacks, even sword attacks, by pushing them away with these hands. Kuma's abilities can also be used to create massively destructive attacks. This is displayed by one of his signature moves, "Ursus Shock", essentially a "bomb" made of highly compressed air created by pushing the air between his hands. This destructive power is enough to severely cripple a massive giant, in this case Oars Jr.

Inazuma

Inazuma is a Revolutionary, originally from South Blue, and an okama who serves under Emporio Ivankov. Because of Ivankov's gender changing powers, Inazuma has appeared both as a man and as a woman. As a man, Inazuma is mostly serious, calm and level-headed, almost emotionless. He only shows emotions during critical moments, such as relief when he thought that Ivankov survived his battle against Magellan, and panic moments later when he realized that Ivankov had been defeated by Magellan. As a woman, Inazuma is warm and cheerful, in sharp contrast with her male persona.

Also, regardless of gender, Inazuma seems to lack the general flamboyant disposition of an okama unlike most of the other okamas depicted in One Piece. As either personality he is very loyal to Ivankov, he will usually do nothing until given an order. Inazuma is extremely loyal to Ivankov, as seen when he chose to stay behind the escaping prisoners to await Iva's return, and when he showed panic when he learned that he had been defeated by Magellan. He also did not attack until Ivankov gave him the command during the Whitebeard War, staying protected in his large afro. Inazuma is an accomplished fighter who is capable of fighting while still maintaining his somewhat jaunty pose and holding his glass of wine. Though he appears to primarily fight with his Devil Fruit powers, he is also a proficient physical fighter, proven when he sent a wolf from the ferocious Wolf Unit flying with a kick. Even the Level 6 prisoners compliment his skills. Inazuma ate the Choki Choki no Mi, which allows him to transform parts of his body into scissors and manipulate whatever he cuts as though it were paper. It was also demonstrated that after cutting an object, it remains as if it was paper (as shown when fighting with Magellan making him able to move it at ease as if a paper itself). It was first seen in Level 6 of Impel Down where he cut the floor, flipping it as it was paper and laid it over the staircase, so the sleeping gas could not enter the area.

Ivankov

Emporio Ivankov, or Iva for short, is the "Queen" of the Kamabakka Kingdom, known as "Okama King" and a "Miracle Person", and is a commander of the Revolutionary Army. He was formerly a prisoner of Impel Down kept in Level 5, living in a secret "Okama Paradise" in level 5.5, but has since returned to his post as Queen of Kamabakka Kingdom. He challenged Sanji to defeat his 99 masters of Newkama Kenpo for the secret of the "attack cuisine" and a boat, during the two year timeskip. Ivankov is a large man with an afro of blue/purple hair, and has long eyelashes, he also has a noticeably-odd shaped chin resembling an arrowhead. His afro is large enough to hold people inside it. He has a Jolly Roger tattooed just below his chest. As an okama, he dresses in reddish-purple woman's garments with heavy makeup. To signify his queen-ship of New Kama Land, he wears a queen's crown with a king's crown on top. His hairstyle, make-up, necklace and fishnet stockings are all attributes commonly associated with a stereotypical depiction of a drag queen. Using his Emporio Female Hormones on himself, Ivankov can become a large-sized, relatively curvy woman. This form is more realistically proportioned (relatively speaking) than his male form, and is rather well endowed. Because of the clothes he wears as an okama, this form is also scantily dressed. Despite the changes brought on by the hormones however, he is still incredibly tall and is at least twice, if not three times the size of the Impel Down officer Sadi-chan. While in a flashback as a Revolutionary, Iva has been seen wearing a cloak, and without the crown. In the anime, when Iva turns into a woman, he keeps his male voice, unlike the other characters who are changed by his powers, although his voice sounds slightly between male and female.

He is considered the greatest okama in the world. As queen of Kamabakka Kingdom, Iva controls an island of male transvestites, which gives him a similar status on par with Boa Hancock, who rules over Amazon Lily. In Impel Down, he set up his new kingdom (or queendom) called New Kama Land and commanded a small army of "New Kama Okama" followers, all of whom were former prisoners. Following the war, he returned to Kamabakka Kingdom along with his New Kama Land followers, uniting his 2 king/queendoms. As a commander of the Revolutionaries, Iva has control over the lower ranking members of the army. He appears to have considerable skills as a leader, evident by his ability to unite the rag-tag group of unruly inmates that strayed away and eventually found themselves in New Kama Land under his command. Ivankov's trademark attack is the Death Wink. This ridiculous but powerful attack consists of sending a massive blast of what seems to be air pressure, simply by winking. He demonstrated this wink on a man who swore revenge on him because Ivankov had turned his father, who was a king, into a woman. The man fired with his bazooka. Ivankov used the Death Wink, and repelled the blast. This attack is often powered up by Ivankov's Devil Fruit, using it to increase the size of his own head, creating the more powerful Hell Wink. In contrast to his rather comical appearance, Ivankov is a powerful fighter should the need arise. His strength is great enough to allow him to fight on equal terms with the completely transformed Pacifista, Shichibukai Bartholomew Kuma. He is also fairly durable and, like Bon Kurei, has been known to survive from cases that are otherwise life-threatening from time to time. To best put his strength in perspective, he was able to easily defeat (without any visible damage) Sanji, one of the Straw Hats' top fighters. Ivankov also appears to have some knowledge regarding Haki, having asked Luffy about it at the final stages of the battle at Marineford, and the fact that he was able to retain his consciousness after Luffy unleashed a surge of Haoshoku Haki throughout Marineford (that incapacitated both Marine and pirate alike) despite being so close to the boy while running side by side with him suggests remarkable willpower on Ivankov's part. As a woman, Ivankov appears to be skilled in hand-to-hand combat, as her feminine figure gives her better arms and legs for fighting. She is strong enough to not only hold her own, but defeat Chief Guard Sadi-chan, one of the strongest among the staff of Impel Down, without any injuries. In the anime, he also states his woman body makes him softer, which makes him resistant to most physical attacks. She seems to use kicks and wrestling submission moves when a woman, and uses Death/Hell wink and Newkama Kenpo as a man. Ivankov was also able to stand in Level 5 also known as Freezing Hell without showing any signs of discomfort, even though the temperature was so low that prisoners were losing their limbs from severe frostbite. Another helpful, if comical, asset Ivankov has, is that he wears a great deal of make-up, enough to essentially create a "mask" which was able to completely shield his face from Magellan's corrosive poison and Akainu's magma in the anime. Ivankov ate the Horu Horu no Mi, which allows him to control the hormones of the human body, and is one of the very few known powers coming from a Devil Fruit that can affect other people's bodies as well as his/her own. This power led him to be known as the "Miracle Person". He can remodel a human from the inside, which allows them to change all physical aspects, including: sex, growth, skin pigment, and many other things. This also allows him to boost a person's chances of survival from conditions that would otherwise mean certain death. However, it is only a slight increase, so only those with a strong enough will can recover. Also, the process apparently shortens a person's potential lifespan. Ivankov has shown his own martial arts style, the Newkama Kenpo. This may be an improved version of Mr. 2 Bon Kurei's Okama Kenpo, as Ivankov shows more power in his strikes than Mr. 2, though Ivankov's significantly greater size and strength may also have something to do with it. With this, Ivankov was able to injure Chief Warden Magellan before losing to his poison ability. And during the Marineford War, Ivankov was practically the first (and probably the only one) to actually harm Kuma throughout the extent of the battle.

Sabo

Sabo is the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army, and is recognized as the "No. 2" of the entire organization, being directly under Dragon himself in terms of command. He is an adoptive brother of Luffy and Ace, and the son of Outlook III. He was born into a noble family in Goa Kingdom but decided to run away and live in the Gray Terminal, eventually setting out to sea on his own. 12 years before the present storyline, he was a childhood friend of Ace, and eventually Luffy as well, to the point where the three considered themselves to be "brothers", swearing an oath of brotherhood over sake. Along with Ace and Luffy, Sabo's dream was to become a pirate so that he could set sail and achieve freedom, and made plans with his brothers to set sail at age 17. Despite this, Sabo decided to set sail before Ace and Luffy, and his boat was destroyed by a Celestial Dragon moments later. Sabo was believed to have died from this event, but survived and joined the Revolutionaries.

As an adult, Sabo is shown to have great agility as he easily dodged an attack from a Fighting Fish, as well as tremendous strength, clashing with Jesus Burgess, a pirate known for his titanic strength and a captain of the Blackbeard Pirates first ship, who is also a personal bodyguard to the Yonko Blackbeard, with little effort. He later destroys the entire arena of the Corrida Colosseum, which was tough enough to resist all the previous battles between the New World gladiators. A simple grip allowed him to crush Vice Admiral Bastille's skull and helmet. He is skilled enough to go toe-to-toe with a Marine Admiral and emerge with only a few bruises. He was later able to defeat Burgess, one of the 10 giant captains of the Blackbeard Pirates crew and Yonko's crew member with minimal effort. Sabo's Ryusoken fighting style revolves around the use of his fingers which he refers to as "claws". His fingers are strong enough to break armor, great swords and even skulls with ease and remaining unharmed. He claims his fingers are like the claws of a dragon. He also uses Haki to increase the strength of his fingers. In contrast to Luffy, who readily chooses to target his adversary, Sabo seems to prefer destroying his opponent's weapon first before going head to head against them; this difference in battle approach was what allowed Diamante to notice that Lucy was not actually Luffy when Sabo came to fight in Luffy's place in the coliseum. During his fight with Jesus Burgess, Sabo imbued his arm with Busoshoku Haki in conjunction with his techniques. He can also imbue his pipe. He was strong enough to destroy the armor covering Burgess's right arm, as well as Diamante's weapon. Sabo is the current user of the Logia-type Devil Fruit, the Mera Mera no Mi, which originally belonged to his brother Ace before his death. With it, Sabo is able to become the element of fire and control the flames from his body at will. After eating the fruit, Sabo was instantly able to utilize it to the point of using Ace's signature technique, the "Hiken", which was strong enough to shatter the bottom floor of the Corrida Colosseum, exposing the underground facility. He did later show difficulty of controlling his fruit however, which is typically displayed by new Devil Fruit users. While facing against Issho's Marine platoon, Sabo has been shown imbuing his weapon with fire, showcasing that he quickly attained control of his Devil Fruit power. He also mentions that he still has not grown fully accustomed to his new ability just yet, since he still has a habit of dodging attacks, despite being a Logia-user.

Monkey D. Dragon

Monkey D. Dragon is the father of Monkey D. Luffy and the son of Monkey D. Garp. He is the infamous Revolutionary leader who has been attempting to overthrow the World Government. He is the World Government's greatest enemy, and is the most dangerous and most wanted man in the world. Dragon is usually seen dressed in a long green cloak (colored black in the manga), underneath which he wears the garb of a revolutionary, colored white in the anime, and orange in the manga. He has spiky black hair with a widow's peak hairstyle, and what resemble tribal tattoos on the left side of his face (which he received sometime after Gol D. Roger's death), they are colored dark red in the anime, and bright red in the manga. Also, he appears to have no eyebrows, however, he does have a bit of stubble on his chin in the form of a goatee. He is most often seen sporting a sinister grin on his face, further aiding his already intimidating visage. Only on rare occasions, such as at Roger's execution, has Dragon not been seen smiling.

Twenty two years before the start of the series, at Roger's execution, his appearance was the same as it is now except he did not have his tribal tattoos or his stubble. He is the leader of the Revolutionaries and has full command of the organization. There have been some hints that Dragon may be one of the most powerful characters in the entire One Piece series, since the World Government has dubbed him as the "World's Most Wanted Man". After Luffy tells Emporio Ivankov that Ace is his brother, the okama queen greatly fears the possibility of the World Government warring against Dragon along with Whitebeard. Dragon is already a powerful threat in his own right, as well as having powerful subordinates such as Sabo, Emporio Ivankov, Bartholomew Kuma, and Inazuma who are in comparison, lower in rank. This only speaks volumes of Dragon's true power. When Sengoku told everyone of his relationship with Luffy, most people were stunned, including Gekko Moriah of the Shichibukai and members of the Whitebeard Pirates. This reputation alone was enough for Luffy to be marked as a dangerous potential to the future, and for Demaro Black to take advantage of via impersonation. Ivankov has been seen commenting on how Luffy's will to live and his phenomenal strength only helps to prove the idea that he is indeed Dragon's son, implying that Dragon has similar strength and will.

Grand Line

The Grand Line is an ocean where the majority of the plot takes place in One Piece. The Grand Line is the ocean current that is surrounded by the Calm Belts and follows an imaginary line that runs from north-west to south-east across the middle of the world and perpendicular to the Red Line. The Red Line is a vast continent that circles the globe from north-east to south-west. These two lines divide the rest of the Blue Sea into the Blues: North Blue, East Blue, West Blue, and South Blue. This stretch of ocean is said to be the most dangerous place in the world, and is commonly referred to as the Pirates' Graveyard by people from the four Blues because of this reputation (But referred to as "Paradise" for those few who make it to the second half, showing it is all relative). Most believe that it is impossible to safely leave the Grand Line save at its beginning and end; however, the World Government regularly sends ships across the Calm Belts by coating their hulls with Seastone, rendering them invisible to the Sea Kings. The Grand Line is placed similar to the equator. Despite the reputation of the Grand Line being dangerous and chaotic, many normal people manage a living on individual islands regardless, having adapted to their home land. This indicates that it is actually traveling within the Line itself that is dangerous, as it virtually guarantees facing unpredictable climates and dangerous wildlife. However, there are also several islands, or portions of the islands, which are considered dangerous in their own right, and thus, they are either uninhabited, or the citizens have taken precaution to the threat.

To the north and south of the Grand Line are strips of ocean known as the "Calm Belts". The true entrance to Grand Line is usually marred by storms; the waters of the Calm Belts remain static year round, and there are virtually no winds or waves (this makes it difficult to cross without propulsion). Extremely large sea monsters called Sea Kings live in the Calm Belts; in fact, the monsters found in the Calm Belts are the largest shown thus far in all of One Piece. The combination of no currents, no wind, and the presence of the Sea Kings makes these belts perfect barriers to any traveler trying to directly go into the Grand Line. Without using Seastone-lined ships (which are concealed from the Sea Kings to a certain degree) and some propulsion, the Grand Line can only be accessed at two points on the Red Line: Reverse Mountain and the Holy Land of Mariejois. The first is where the four major currents of the Blues merge together to form the Grand Line, while the second is the site of the World Government. The Grand Line is divided by the Red Line into two halves. The first half, stretching from Reverse Mountain to the polar opposite point of the Red Line, is known as "Paradise". The second half, which starts beyond the second Red Line point to the backside of Reverse Mountain, is known as the "New World". The first half of the Grand Line is known as Paradise (Paradaisu) to those who have been to the New World. It lies between East Blue and South Blue. While the Grand Line is a dangerous place, the first half is known as such in comparison to the more terrifying dangers present in the New World. This was first mentioned when Luffy remembered Zeff calling the Grand Line a paradise and another time when the pirates wanted to go back to Paradise in the New World. The New World (Shinsekai) is the second half of the Grand Line. It lies between North Blue and West Blue. This half has not been fully explored, except by the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, himself. This area is also where the Yonko reign.

Baratie

The Baratie is an ocean-going restaurant, founded and run by Zeff. It is located in the Sambas Region (Sanbasu Kaiiki) of East Blue. The Baratie was attacked by the Krieg Pirates after Sanji gave Gin some food. Gin responded by taking the armada to the Baratie, as the armada was starving to death. After Zeff gave Krieg some food, which the cooks of Baratie would not do, Krieg attempted to capture the Baratie, saying that it would be the perfect disguise to attack towns and other ships.

The cooks began to prepare to fight against the Wolves of the Sea, the nickname given to the armada, and Krieg's weapon arsenal. Later, after a long and arduous battle between Krieg and Luffy, Baratie was successfully defended. Two Years LaterEdit Two years later, Baratie undergoes some major remodeling, with a new submarine dessert ship called "Sister Anko" and a hot plate expansion ship called "Nasugasira". He was a famous customer at the Baratie. His real name is unknown. Johnny, having heard of him, and mistaking him for "Hawk-Eye", told Zoro that Dracule Mihawk might be found at the Baratie. He was a famous man among the chefs, having frequently visited the Baratie. One day he got drunk on wine and died after setting himself on fire. The flames were said to be quite beautiful. He was only mentioned in the manga upon the recollections of the chefs in Chapter 49. In the anime he was not mentioned at all.

Island of Rare Animals

The Island of Rare Animals is an island that is covered entirely by forest and has many strange animals on it, most of which are mixtures of two or more normal animals, including Cocox. Gaimon, the only human living on the island at the time, went there about twenty four years ago from the present storyline, along with the rest of his crew, searching for treasure, and was left behind.

Twenty two years later, the Straw Hat Pirates arrived. Being the nice guy he is, Luffy helped Gaimon find the treasure chests he was searching for on a rock tower in the middle of the island. However, they were all empty. Later, Buggy was spat ashore by a giant bird and discovered by Gaimon, which thought he was going to take away the rare animals and they got in a fight. When Buggy said he was actually a pirate, they became friends. Soon, Buggy made a raft and left the island, but was attacked by a giant crab on the shore. After the timeskip, the island has a new resident, the barrel-woman, Sarfunkel.

Shimotsuki Village

Shimotsuki Village is a village in East Blue where the dojo in which Roronoa Zoro trained is located.

The Isshin Dojo (Isshin Dōjō) is a kenjutsu school, a school of Japanese swordsmanship. Its owner is Koshiro, who is a skilled swordsman and father of the deceased Kuina. It is the place where Zoro trained his Santoryu and in the anime is the only dojo Zoro did not take down the sign of. It is revealed that 12 years before the current storyline the town was visited by Monkey D. Dragon and the Revolutionaries, and that the dojo assisted them with supplies for the injured residents of Gray Terminal.

Shells Town

Shells Town is the third setting of the Romance Dawn Arc. It is located in the Yotsuba Island Region (Yotsuba-tō Kaiiki) of East Blue. It first appeared in Chapter 3 and Episode 1. It was the location of the Marine's 153rd Branch, headed by Captain Morgan.

Shells Town was being ruined by Morgan's actions until Monkey D. Luffy intervened. Since Morgan's "deposition" by Luffy, the Marine base was last heard to be under the temporary command of Ripper. Food Foo is a restaurant in Shells Town. It is where Luffy first mentioned Zoro's name, where Zoro attacked Helmeppo, and where Luffy attacked Coby after defeating Morgan. The 153rd Branch is a Marine Base at Shells Town and the seat of the 153rd Marine Branch in East Blue. It is where Luffy and Zoro defeated Morgan.

Goat Island

Goat Island is the island where Luffy first met Coby and Alvida. This island appeared only in the manga, while in the original anime, Luffy met Coby on the Lady Mary. The island was later included in the special Episode of Luffy.

It is a small, rocky island where small rocks covered the shoreline and a small forest is visible. At some point, the Alvida Pirates made this island their base. After making Coby their chore boy, he planned for years to escape, building a small boat near the forest. Once Luffy defeated Alvida, Coby was freed, and the Alvida Pirates later merged with the Buggy Pirates. The bases on the island are presumably abandoned since the crew is currently in the Grand Line.

Goa Kingdom

Goa Kingdom is located on Dawn Island. It first appeared in a flashback. Goa Kingdom's symbol is a daisy with three feathers. Many nobles wear it somewhere and it can also be found on the police hats. A stylized form is also present on the high town walls.

Twelve years ago, Luffy, Sabo, and Ace often came here to eat and would run away without paying. They would often run through the street to avoid authorities. Sabo himself was born in and comes from this kingdom. Eventually, the kingdom decided to burn down Gray Terminal in order to impress the approaching World Noble to increase their own social status.

Gray Terminal

The Gray Terminal is a massive junkyard located on Dawn Island by Mt. Colubo near Foosha Village just outside the great gate of Goa. Filled with unwanted goods and people ejected from the city of Goa, it is a lawless community without proper medical care, leaving many ravaged by disease. Sabo lived here in secret, along with various other refugees. Many, or possibly all of the inhabitants of the Gray Terminal make their livelihood by selling various wares found in the slum or surrounding mountains to the citizens of Edge Town.

In order to pass inspection by the World Government in preparation for the arrival of a World Noble, the royal family planned to burn the Gray Terminal and all its inhabitants. With the false promise of nobility, they hired the Bluejam Pirates to place gunpowder and oil around the Terminal. With their task complete, the pirates set the Gray Terminal on fire, shooting anyone fortunate enough to escape, but were left to die as the king locked the gates with them still trapped in the inferno. However, thanks to the assistance of Dragon and the Revolutionaries, many inhabitants were able to escape to the safety of their ship. After the inspection was over, and Saint Jalmack departed, the kingdom returned to its old ways, and the Gray Terminal returned to being a dump site for garbage. It is unknown if the place was inhabited again or if it is still deserted.

Foosha Village

Foosha Village (literally meaning "Windmill Village") is a village that is located on Dawn Island and is part of Goa Kingdom. It is the first setting of the Romance Dawn Arc, and is where the story of One Piece starts from. According to the Colorwalk 1 East Blue map, it is located near the larger landmass close to the Red Line northeast of East Blue.

A prominent feature of this sleepy village is Mt. Colubo in the background. Several notable mountain bandits live in or around the mountain near the village, causing the occasional chaos to the villagers or assisting them as needed. The town appears to be rather unknown, thus the townsfolk are thrilled and proud that their town might be known for producing an infamous pirate. They are led by mayor Woop Slap who usually is against most ideas presented by the other townsfolk on pirates. The town also has a local Sea Monster called Lord of the Coast. However, it is not as big as some of the sea monsters in the rest of the world and there is no indications it is as big of a problem as others of his kind may create. This monster is the reason why Shanks lost his left arm by saving Luffy.

Dawn Island

Dawn Island is an island located in the East Blue and where the Goa Kingdom is situated. It is the home island of Monkey D. Luffy and the starting point of his journey into piracy, as well as the home island of his father, Monkey D. Dragon. This is also the adopted home of Portgas D. Ace after the death of his mother and the home of Sabo and his family.

The island contains a low mountain, at least one village, and a huge junkyard with a forest at its edge. It is mostly rural farmland. It is unknown how many villages there are or how many people live here. Goa Kingdom stretches across the entire island. Twenty two years ago, shortly after Portgas D. Ace was born, Garp moved him here to place him in Curly Dadan's care. Nineteen years ago, Luffy was born on this island. Twelve years ago, Shanks and his pirate crew stopped by here where Luffy meets them and they stay for a year. After a while, Garp came back and took Luffy to Dadan. Seven years after that, Ace departed from the island. Luffy did the same thing three years later. Cows can be found at the outskirts of the village. However, Mt. Colubo is a home to dangerous gigantic animals such as tigers, alligators, bears, snakes, and vultures. Luffy, Ace, and Sabo often hunted these dangerous creatures to train themselves and for food. Though they could normally take them, the animals will sometimes cause them serious injuries (like when Luffy was attacked by a bear after Sabo's supposed death).

Grand Line

The Grand Line is an ocean where the majority of the plot takes place in One Piece. The Grand Line is the ocean current that is surrounded by the Calm Belts and follows an imaginary line that runs from north-west to south-east across the middle of the world and perpendicular to the Red Line. The Red Line is a vast continent that circles the globe from north-east to south-west. These two lines divide the rest of the Blue Sea into the Blues: North Blue, East Blue, West Blue, and South Blue. This stretch of ocean is said to be the most dangerous place in the world, and is commonly referred to as the Pirates' Graveyard by people from the four Blues because of this reputation (But referred to as "Paradise" for those few who make it to the second half, showing it is all relative). Most believe that it is impossible to safely leave the Grand Line save at its beginning and end; however, the World Government regularly sends ships across the Calm Belts by coating their hulls with Seastone, rendering them invisible to the Sea Kings.

The Grand Line is placed similar to the equator. Despite the reputation of the Grand Line being dangerous and chaotic, many normal people manage a living on individual islands regardless, having adapted to their home land. This indicates that it is actually traveling within the Line itself that is dangerous, as it virtually guarantees facing unpredictable climates and dangerous wildlife. However, there are also several islands, or portions of the islands, which are considered dangerous in their own right, and thus, they are either uninhabited, or the citizens have taken precaution to the threat.  To the north and south of the Grand Line are strips of ocean known as the "Calm Belts". The true entrance to Grand Line is usually marred by storms; the waters of the Calm Belts remain static year round, and there are virtually no winds or waves (this makes it difficult to cross without propulsion). Extremely large sea monsters called Sea Kings live in the Calm Belts; in fact, the monsters found in the Calm Belts are the largest shown thus far in all of One Piece. The combination of no currents, no wind, and the presence of the Sea Kings makes these belts perfect barriers to any traveler trying to directly go into the Grand Line. Without using Seastone-lined ships (which are concealed from the Sea Kings to a certain degree) and some propulsion, the Grand Line can only be accessed at two points on the Red Line: Reverse Mountain and the Holy Land of Mariejois. The first is where the four major currents of the Blues merge together to form the Grand Line, while the second is the site of the World Government.

The Grand Line is divided by the Red Line into two halves. The first half, stretching from Reverse Mountain to the polar opposite point of the Red Line, is known as "Paradise". The second half, which starts beyond the second Red Line point to the backside of Reverse Mountain, is known as the "New World". The first half of the Grand Line is known as Paradise to those who have been to the New World. It lies between East Blue and South Blue.  While the Grand Line is a dangerous place, the first half is known as such in comparison to the more terrifying dangers present in the New World. This was first mentioned when Luffy remembered Zeff calling the Grand Line a paradise and another time when the pirates wanted to go back to Paradise in the New World. The weather is unusual on the Grand Line. The currents and weather are extremely volatile, as they can change in an instant; this includes water spouts, storms, blizzards, and other such things. Islands and the surrounding waters are the only areas where weather and currents are stabilized in a predictable manner. The reason for this is that islands on the Grand Line fall into four basic categories: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn. These types of islands each have four seasons of their own, giving the Grand Line a total of 16 different seasons. There are also cyclones that seems to appear quickly and suddenly. Although being remarked as unpredictable, Nami was able to sense it coming even in a fevered state.  Normal compasses do not work on the Grand Line because of the nature of its magnetic fields. In order to navigate the Grand Line, a special compass called a 'Log Pose' must be used. The Log Pose works by locking on to one island's magnetic field and then locking on to another island's magnetic field. The Log Pose can do this for a total of seven different routes that diverge from Reverse Mountain and travel east before merging again to the last island, Raftel. The time for a pose to set depends on the island. One island may take from a few hours to a few days to set to the next island, while another can take a year to set. This process can be bypassed by obtaining an 'Eternal Pose'. This version of the Log Pose is permanently set to a specific island and can never change. This makes it easier for a crew to get to a specific island rather than going through a trail of islands. As also noted at Water 7, small sea vessels such as caravels do not make it particularly far in the Grand Line and it was a surprise that the Going Merry had. Despite a crew's best efforts it is difficult to keep a ship in good condition and avoid getting it battered by the Grand Line's natural hazards. Only good quality ships with knowledgeable crews stand a chance of traversing it safely.
